Whatever it was, Jeb understood it and knew it was bad in a split second.

I'm not sure how W could have informed Jeb that "he'd flipped and wasn't going to cover for him" in less than 1 second. A message like that would take longer to think about.

IMO it was something like a photograph. Something that could draw a visceral reaction instantly without much thought.
