The only reason that most of the GOP were objecting was because of the Pence letter signalling to them that Pence was going to follow the EC act, which guarantees a Biden victory because of the balance of power in the House. Additionally, Pence isn't the governing authority on invoking the 25th amendment, he may be part of it, but it takes more than just one person. Besides that, Trump is out in 14 days unless something happens. This is about silencing him and taking away his declass power. They are scared he'll reveal all their secrets. Why he hasn't done so yet is anyone's guess.
