We have never been at DEFCON 1 before from what I read. This is saying we are very close in time to being at the most severe state of military readiness and threat in our history.
You are correct sir, I am ex military and have been told this in training as well. The closest we've been was defcon 2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962).

You just know that China is primed to exploit what they perceive as a weak moment to sneak attack, now that they have used their CCP virus and proxies to destablise the west. And covid as well.
All the solarwinds / DoD network shutdown shenanigans from earlier has hopefully removed any foreign access to milspec systems and they are watching and ready to pre-empt any aggression.
We have the strongest military in the world. Other countries can have the same technologies, firearms etc etc but the one thing they will never be able to replicate,is the fighting spirit of us American's. We won wars/battles that people deemed impossible. Pork Chop hill, Iwo Jima, Normandy Invasion to name a few. When/If shit hits the fan, I have no doubt in my mind we AMERICANS will rise to the challenge. It is in our blood.
The ones on the frontlines know what is at stake, I did at least and I was willing to give my life for it.
Not to mention better trained, better rations and food supplies(infact best on earth) and best logistics supply chain in history of an army. No one can compete with the American soldier who knows what to do and when to do it with his 50k worth of kit, unlimited support sitting in comfort in the middle of the battle field eating his slice of pepperoni pizza from his ration pack. Meanwhile CHinese are eating shit rice with literally 3 beans in it and rubber egg mystery meat thing. You don't win wars on that diet.
