Yeah, I dunno if I agree with that. Shy away from addressing the pope because it would look like/incite the tramping of religious liberty? I get the optic, but if the world is being rebuilt anyway, and the rule of law regains its rightful place, then 1) if he's guilty, this sends a powerful message
2) the law automatically gets its cred back
For lack of a better phrase, the law needs to learn to bite those again that deserve it. People should have a healthy respect for and a clear understanding of what the law is and always should've been.
I hope we can look at the law as a respectable institution again after this.
