I did.
"Your rationale has a serious flaw.
It appears you are arguing that conviction can only occur if removal from office is still a valid remedy yet to occur. This is incorrect.
Similar to the criminal justice system, even if the prescribed sentencing cannot be carried out or is already underway, a conviction is still possible. Even if a judge where to sentence the convicted to time served, the conviction still stands.
Thus, any subsequent penalties that may have had conviction as a prerequisite can proceed.
Impeachment is no different. Precedent from John Quincy Adams and other non presidential impeachment cases confirm that impeachment can proceed after leaving office. Although removal from office is the best-known remedy for an impeachment case, it's not the only one."
^ I found this convincing as a response to his article.

Doesn't matter. If the Senate isn't in session to receive the charges/complaint, it sits until the Senate is available to receive it. And since a pro forma session doesn't involve outside business and is basically only for the Senate, meaning they're closed for everyone else, they won't be open until 1/19.
McConnell is still Senate Majority Leader until the inauguration. He needs a unanimous vote from the current Senate to convene for this, and Cruz alone will vote against it and shut it down.
Besides, even IF [they] were to accomplish the impossible like that, [they] would need to do it all before the close of business tomorrow evening. That ain't happening. There's no Earthly way [they] can "massage" the rules and laws like that.
