I work in Western Washington but my bug out location is in Eastern Washington, I work until Tuesday.
Like would the blackout be so bad I can't drive my car? I have my BOB and other essentials on me at all times. My current plan is that if the blackout happens I am hitting the road immediately.
My personal opinion based on absolutely nothing other than my Wild Ass Guess:
Major cities like London, SF, LA, NYC, etc; they may see actual power / electrical disruptions.
Why the fuck else are they bringing semi-truck-sized electrical generators into DC?
I do not think the power outages will be widespread.
I think it will be more of a COMMS blackout than anything; internet, email, maybe TV & radio.
But.....again; it’s much better to have and not need, than the opposite of that. So whatever last min prep you have in mind, do it.
What do you think about air traffic if all this happens?
what do you mean? Will we be allowed to fly, or what wil .MIL air traffic look like, or what?
I think that wealthy & connected people will be able to carry on & do what they want. MIL will still be flying like crazy, if nothing else to warn & fend off any foreign bad actors tempted to take advantage of the situation.
Civilian air travel will probably stop almost completely.
Again; my total guess, based on absolutely nothing but my opinions.
I was wondering mostly of civilian, I assume mil. would do whatever they do. I guess I was more thinking of the ATC’s.
If there's a big formal announcement of Insurrection Act, Martial Law, or anything similar; widespread power outages, etc; I doubt civilian travel will be terribly busy. Whether it's because the airlines shut down / ground themselves, or because the gov grounds them, I have no idea.
Basically; if you are thinking of flying anywhere in the next month, I'd cancel those plans. LOL
