Sure.

DNS root servers (Google, Verizon, Cloudflare ironically, etc - Know where all the websites live.)
Cloudflare load balancer/CDN (Spreads the website traffic around the world)
More DNS (controlled by Gab)
Gab's root servers (where Gab lives).

That's a simplification. Basically, Parler's #4 was hosted on Amazon so they were able to just take them down. Gab's #3 is broken right now. Which is super rare.

would there be any benefit to me running my own DNS server in case google decides to fuck around? forgive me if i'm fundamentally misunderstanding something
