The individual lawyer in the movie was a fictitious man that played the role of real life Richard Jewell’s entire team of lawyers, which included Lin Wood.
This doesn’t lend much credibility to his current postings, but what the media and FBI did to that man was abhorrent. The fact that he was on the team that helped exonerate Jewel is commendable.

I think Lin Wood was Jewell's lawyer for defamation against media after his name was already cleared. He wasn't his criminal defense lawyer.
