You could be right, I live in South Korea and I can say that the threat is actually played up more in the west, then we worry about it here. Most South Koreans don't actually think about it much at all from what I can tell. It is startling though when you realize you live 1 country over from China... and are 1 border away from a totalitarian regime who would love to drop a few nukes on the USA.
Korea very much seems like Cuba was back in the cold war, China 100% doesn't want to share a border with a western backed country, so they have a huge incentive to prop up N. Korea. They also have every reason to want to unify South Korea under a North Korea/china backed system.... because it would move US military off of China's door step.
My guess is, 80% of what N. Korea does when it acts out, is dictated by China.... my guess is also, if Joe Biden is installed, then we will see N. Korea go back to launching shit every other week.
