The true government of China has been in exile on Taiwan since the communist takeover. Formosa was possibly the shortest Republic to ever exist on the island. Wasn't there an EO re: Taiwan recently?
I remember writing a paper back during an undergrad class years ago, arguing that Taiwan (ROC) was a sovereign nation and met every UN criteria to be recognized as such. But given the communists seat on the security council, they'd never allow it. Have to take down the CCP before anything could be done.
