It’s been a while, but wasn’t another subplot of godfather III the idea that some people wanted to go legit with their business and leave the crime behind?
Could that also be referencing that some people in the DS are so desperate to be out of the club (I.e go “legit”) that they’re willing to bring the entire thing down.
Just a thought, might have to go rewatch GFIII to see if there’s any other parallels
