When I first heard the media covering Eric Snowden, I thought it must all be bullshit. There's no reason they would tell the world about their spying operation.

Of course it's bullshit. Snowden was a character fabricated for the narrative. There's even a damn Netflix movie about him. The NSA is a tool that is being used to bring down the corrupt systems intertwined into all forms of government.
