That's what threw me; the Military is, from what I've seen, ALWAYS referred to as this; .MIL, mil, military, armed forces, etc.

See this post I just created though, where I think Q is directly referring to the US MARINE CORPS as being "US M's" that will make arrests:
I think you are onto something; if you look up a list of military acronyms, an awful lot with the word 'military' is MIL.
Edit to add: just saw a post that references post #537 - explicitly says US MIL.
