You're wrong. It comes from World of Warcraft. There's a parser to "translate" between in-game languages (because Alliance and Horde aren't supposed to be able to understand each other). If you're set to Orcish and put in "LOL", Alliance players will see "KEK".
I believe it comes from the Korean characters that spell (in Korean), LOL, but it's KEK. I could be wrong, but I like this explanation.
