NG has got to be for only riot control.

I think the last couple months has likely seen SpecOps performing individual missions all over the globe.

There is a reason Special Operations Command was all moved under the Secretary of Defense in November.

Another reason they might need to protect Congress from rioters: if information gets declassified that makes people very angry.
