I commented about writing a letter to my neighbors if certain BIG events occurred. There were some requests to share that letter, so here it is:

Neighbors,

I typed and printed this letter on Friday, January 15th to be given out if I did not have power in my house. Please forgive me for sounding vague, but at the time I wrote this, I did not know what might have caused the power outage. Obviously, I was aware that it might happen. I have my own personal ideas on what may have happened, and what may happen in the future. You may have ideas as well, or you may be overwhelmed by our current circumstances.

Who, what, when, where, and why can all be answered later. My primary concern at this moment is the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of my family and my neighbors. Please reach out if you have any concerns about your safety or security. These concerns may include cold weather, food and water, medical supplies, transportation, etc.

Additionally, I encourage you to reach out to your immediate neighbors, multiple times a day if necessary or appropriate. As 2020 has shown us, isolation can have detrimental effects. Our situation may be related to politics, but we can make our community stronger than the partisan divides we see on the nightly news. While we cannot control what happens on the national stage, we can each decide that we will do everything in our power to keep ourselves, our families, and our neighbors safe from harm during these uncertain times.
