Re: Troops are Trump’s. I’ve been saying the same multiple times, especially with all the “why does Biden need so many troops if he’s legitimately elected“ memes - Not Biden’s troops, folks :-)
Re: Coin. My experience is that the coin is not unique to special forces, FYI.
Also, in the Christopher Miller mingling with the troops video, he speaks to the two guys that he hands out coins to, and they indicated they are in the band. And Miller references the old tradition of “the responsibilities of the military bandmembers are also to protect headquarters in case it’s overrun, and so it’s appropriate that you guys are here protecting the capital.”
Check the audio.
I think your premise still stands, though. I think it’s very likely that there’s more personnel there than only National Guard, and in fact we saw some USMC Ospreys in the DC airspace on video yesterday. (I have zero specific knowledge of anything in DC, btw)
I’m glad you finally put it in a post, though - I would’ve saved myself a lot of typing if I would’ve just done that three days ago, lol. ???
You will never hear a US Marine refer to himself as an ex-Marine. It’s always Former Marine. I don’t really remember the semantics of it, but that’s the way we do it. Yes, and once a Marine, always a Marine :-)
I call myself a jarhead to take the bragging edge off of it. We also go by Devil dog, Gyrene, Teufelhunden, and Uncle Sams Misguided Children.
I’m waiting for you to come back after listening to the audio, my brotha ?
Long time lurker on TDW, recently found this forum, was tired of the doomers. I have to come to the defense though of the former Marine issue, from the time I was in boot camp, and on we were always told there are no ex-Marines only former Marines. This is my first comment ever, but felt it needed to be heard.
This will be very easy to resolve: find a United States Marine. Any age from anywhere. Hell, go down to your local recruiting center. Ask them if they are no longer active duty, are they a former Marine or an ex-Marine.
Then, when you have your answer, you can return here and tell us what that answer was.
Yo OP, good post. (Former Jarhead here)

My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment.
Thanks for your service!
Hey buddy, appreciate you staying frosty here. Cannot be too careful.
See my other comment on a very easy way to resolve this.
Edited to a slightly more mature answer:
Understandable. My one year of post/comment history on TD is still there.
Go back and listen to the audio, and listen to them say that they were in the band, and then come back and give me a fist bump.
We love you too, you simple bastard. ?
Wow, you guys are great. ?

Once a Marine, always a Marine. Oorah!
