Around mid 90s when computers were just becoming mainstream, I bought a set of new encyclopedia that was dirt cheap on closeout price because encyclopedia on CD was taking over.
It was amazing to read the historical "facts" it contained. After the fall of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, historical facts literally flipped. At that time the big threat was moving toward Islamic Radicals, and away from Communism as the eternal threat to Western Civilization. I had at that time never even heard of Islamic Radicals, but the new threat was needed, and they had become the perilous danger the world is now and always has had to face. Communism is now and has always been our friends and allies, particularly our WW2 allies in Russia. The threat always has been a bunch of illiterate goat herders (at the time) in the middle east.
It is also around the first time i had ever heard the word xenophobe. I had to look it up to find out it is people (us) who have irrational fears about immigration. this was of course in preparation for the orchestrated waves of illegals they were gearing up to swamp our borders. Well, they needed an intelligent sounding word for normal people who don't want their country bankrupted and destroyed. I think that was before they could come up with "conspiracy theorist " and the other childish word games they play on the unsuspecting public.
