In order to truly remove the evil and corruption (as well as the power-hungry attitude), the government truly has to return to the ideals of for the people and by the people. What better way to do that than to not only remove the demons who have run the US corporation but to move the seat of the government to a place that represents the ideals of the republic? Otherwise, you're just building the new government on the same sewage the last one had as a foundation.
