OAN reported this morning that federal prisons have locked themselves down. Interesting, any ideas on why this might be the case. Safeguard against potential arkancides?
*I would post the screenshot but maga host seems to be having issues at the moment
Federal prisons lock down routinely in crisis times. 9-11, covid, etc.
i would say less staff on hand and possible incoming inmates and possible opportunity for riots if things get sticky.
storm in coming ?
I thought about less staff being a reason, but are they sending correction officers to DC as well ?
Yep, they said that a couple days ago. The Bureau of Prisons is sending a bunch of prison special forces guys to D.C.
imo-only its to keep anyone from thinking about an uprising in civil unrest, even the prisoners.
Local county and state jails in my area seem to be unaffected. Seems more likely to be a staffing issue
You were asking about the federal prisons though where there's likely more hardened criminals.
Yes and no. A crime being under federal jurisdiction could just mean it has something to do with interstate activities or any number of financial crimes. Not necessarily a measure of a crimes severity
I read earlier in the week this was because their crisis teams (using wrong word) that responds to trouble in the prisons, were sent to DC, and therefore they were locking the prisons down to avoid problems. I will look for link to article.
Thanks. That would make a certain degree of sense
