the question is not the reaction in the US - that's taken as a given
but foreign powers
UK, EU, China, UN Security council etc.
could declare a fascist take over has taken place
they could block their internet from the US sites, push their own media to pump propaganda, and cut the USA off totally.

Then a "UN Peace Keeping" mission is started to "rescue the USA"
