What I recall reading is the ruling ultimately came down to a procedural nitpick, but the way SCOTUS ruled, it does supposedly make future POTUS EO's more difficult for a future admin to un-do.
NOT impossible, but just more difficult.
Even Trump himself was interviewed shortly after the ruling (I don't think it was specifically about the case, it just came up) and he used some pretty astounding language along the lines of it was surprising how much power SCOTUS says the office of the Presidency has, due to this DACA ruling.
