Executive agencies shouldn't be "rule making" at all though. That's the legislature's job. Do we really want the President having the power "to set rules governing [our] daily lives?" There's a reason Article II gives the legislature EXCLUSIVE law making authority.
"However, some agencies have chosen to blur these lines of democratic accountability by allowing career officials to authorize, approve, and serve as the final word on regulations. This practice transfers the power to set rules governing Americans’ daily lives from the President, acting through his executive subordinates, to officials insulated from the accountability that national elections bring."
Laws are not the only rules. Rules can also be enforcement policies, executive policies... President already has the power of which you speak and has had since inception! But not if career beaurocrats are in the way and can’t be removed or overridden by the will of the people (in selecting a president)!
IMO "rules" is just a BS loophole for the lawmaking to be punted. The executive branch is not supposed to be making "rules" that impact our day to day lives. There's a reason these laws and rules are tens of thousands of pages long.
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” James Madison
Forget term limits. We need page limits. And we need the laws, rules, regulations, whatever you want to call them, drafted by elected legislators that can be fired. The President's Men cannot be fired directly by the people.
Considering this is on the heels of the declassed memo from Radcliff who tore CIA/NSA analyst a new one in that they intentionally withheld evidence for political reasons - He is now making sure that these swamp foot soldiers meet a treasonous fate when it comes time to provide intel to the military trials.
Trump is making these executive orders like he's staying in power. I think Trump is the world's most interesting man

Agree with page limits!
Executive branch can and does make rules!
See: Executive orders! Border control policy! And many others!
Any takes on the contents of this document?
Are these EO's supposed to actually do something or just make life a little busier for the next President?
