It's the same patch. Just moved to the other side. I have a few combat patches also. He was either in 10th mountain in combat or his unit was attached to them.
Hey boss, I’m not an Armyfag, so I don’t know the significance of 10th Mountain aside from them being named in that Q post. Can you explain why they are revered among other units?
They are one of the 4 Divisions in 18th Airborne Corps, which is historically the Army's rapid deployment force.
82nd, 101st, 3rd are the other divisions in the 18th.
The 4 Divisions offer 4 different strengths (and weaknesses).
82nd can parachute in anywhere.
101 goes in by helicopter.
3ID is a Mech Infantry division, == Armored vehicles and tanks.
10th is light infantry = feet on the ground. Great for mountainous terrain and cities where vehicles can't go.
The 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) is a light infantry division in the United States Army based at Fort Drum, New York. Designated as a mountain warfare unit, the division is the only one of its size in the US military to receive intense specialized training for fighting in mountainous and arctic conditions. More recently, the 10th Mountain has been conducting operations in Iraq, advising and assisting Iraqi Security Forces.
It's from the Wiki but doesn't seem to be slanted politically.
Yes, the Mountain tab and if it were 82nd or 101st combat patch would include the Airborne tab. Ranger TAB is for a school so no but the Ranger Scroll is a for a unit so that would go on the right shoulder. Get's complicated unless you ran in those circles and why stolen valor guys are so easily spotted.
So the combat patch shows the 10th mountain badge with MOUNTAIN written above it?
