It's what happens if congress doesn't appoint anyone as president. If Pompeo's actually been appointed the VP, he's next in line by law without any legislators getting involved at all. And if Congress didn't choose anyone (because the guy they chose is ineligible, not to mention didn't actually receive the votes, and I'm assuming that Kamala has the same, ahem, deficiency), then the VP becomes president. I'm struggling keep it all legal, and unless Congress acts to certify Trump tomorrow, that's all I got without breaking the constitution. I mean, it's crazy, but it seems the least crazy result out of the various improbability drives I've queried.
