This. Exactly this. All those saying why pardon now if he is in control? One, optics. Two, he cares about people and feels they are all worthy of being pardoned now instead of staying in jail longer. And three, if he was worried he would have protected his family to prevent the rage from the left. The fact he didn't pardon himself or his family is proof enough to believe he is still in control.
