which gaming media outlets are nearly bankrupt because of gamergate?

Gawker(Kotaku's owner in '14) got sued to bankruptcy by Hulk Hogan

Their outlets was bought by Univision Media shortly after, only to be later sold to a new company G/O media that started going under in 2019

Gawker was sued for posting hogan's sex tape, not gamergate. I read the article you posted, so I'm on board with the timeline. Looking into the cause of those layoffs, I'm seeing management change problems with the sale to G/O media. The entire deadspin staff resigned in protest a little over 6 months after the article you posted was written. It wasn't a gamergate thing.
