I don't know what information he had available at the time.
Things can get hectic, will see how he speaks around the impeachment trials.
Maybe he was talking about the antifa op
He put blame specifically on Trump. He lost my respect.
He did, he said Trump incited.
But Cruz is one of the best options, sad that we have so few too
I personally will take Cruz any day, but I am quite happy with Josh Hawley and Tuberville. Cruz takes a close 3rd place.
Proof of that please. We'll wait
See reply to NaturalOrder for details.
Quote #1 (slightly misquoted, captures the essence of it):
"The president’s language and rhetoric often goes too far. I think, yesterday in particular, the president’s language and rhetoric crossed the line and it was reckless” - Ted Cruz (January 7th, 2021; ABC13 Houston interview)
He says this near 5mins 18s of the video clip here: https://abc13.com/ted-cruz-dc-riots-did-cause-interview-riot/9443987/
Attacking Trump's "rhetoric", as a political maneuver, in light of the capitol incursion of Jan. 6/21.
Quote #2:
“Look, I think [Trump] plainly bears some responsibility ... I think his angry rhetoric was reckless and I think it was harmful ... I think he has been called out for his rhetoric over and over and over again ... The president has said things for four years that I’ve disagreed with. I disagree with a lot of what he says.” - Ted Cruz (January 7th or 8th; KXAS interview)
Near 4mins 9s of this interview with KXAS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t0SdtlGNwc
In other words, just a re-phrasing of the first statement & more directly putting it on Trump (though, the words from the first one imply it as well).
Quote #3 (adjacently related):
"What happened at the Capitol was despicable and horrific. Each and every one of those terrorists need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." - Ted Cruz (January 8th, Tweet)

Calling members of the MAGA movement terrorists. Quite something. Should they have gone in? Nope. Were they terrorists? Nope. (And sure, you can spin it as "maybe he was referring to the Antifa members involved", but, taken with the above quotes, doesn't look good. At best, I would say he meant "literally everyone involved are terrorists".)
I liked Ted Cruz a lot. He was one of the few that would actually go after Big Tech. I would still take him over the many RINOs. But, he is no longer near my top pick. He has shown that he'll throw someone like Trump under the bus when it is politically convenient to do so. He just doesn't do it with the frequency & degree as many other "Republicans".
Semantics.
Due diligence, and not labeling his countrymen terrorist too much to ask from someone as high status as Ted Cruz. It's not like he is dumb. Most likely just a fair weather patriot. As a Texas pede I really want the Lyin to be a lion but I just can't keep making excuses for the guy.
John Sullivan is a fucking terrorist. John Sullivan was in the capital and helped someone get killed.
And even his brother knows it!
He didn't and he knows We The People aren't the terrorists. If memory serves he was as nondescript as Trump has been. My guess is that he's in on whatever plan is going on.
Then don't make a statement.
Yeah I like Cruz but I'm not letting him live that one down, especially as someone who was there to witness things that day.
I am disappointed in the lack of critical thinking displayed by some of you.
Anrifa was there. Causing chaos. Antifa = terrorists
