I'm a swamp local. I went down to the Iwo Jima Memorial for the inauguration and brought binoculars. There is a clear line of sight to the capitol from there. I wasn't able to make out faces but I could see the flags, the stage, and a mass that I assumed was the crowd during the inauguration. There were a lot of photographers with high powered lenses/scopes. I think they would have been able to see faces. There was also a police group with a high powered lens/scope.
