And like you said, new B is in Jill's style and is vastly different to the old B.
To add to that, there's "J.R." instead of "JOE". Normally one would not stop spelling their own name in full if they were capable of doing so, and "JOE" is very easy to remember. If he had forgotten how to write "OE" in that style though, "R" would have been taught as it can fill the space that "OE" once did.
Notice also that the the transition from "B" to "iden" is disjointed. It seems that although he might not remember how to sign "B" he did remember how to sign "iden".
