I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior August 18th 1985, I've read the bible cover to cover Every year since then. Yet there are Always New Truths that appear that reconfirm the past. This is because His word is LIVING & Active and Sharper than any 2 edged sword. To Put on the Full Armor of God that's in Ephesians 6:11-17 you Need to Read & Know His Word as that will keep you from falling into spiritual deception. Too many "Christian's" are Biblically illiterate. Many only open up their Bibles only on Sunday and/or Wednesday when they go to church.
They let their pastors do All their study for them, this is how & why America has allowed itself to get to this position.
Yes well said. I would like to ask u to join the prayer post that was just created. I'm told it will be stickied tomorrow and ur words would be good to get the group praying for. Its ur choice but ur help would be greatly appreciated. Love u my friend
I have read it, but I'm not exactly religious -- at least anymore. I used to call people sinners, etc. Now I certainly don't care and have become agnostic to say the least.
But I was wondering, however, if the Bible could be taken as esoteric wisdom in our day to day lives. Forget when we die and what happens then -- that may or may not be true. Can those verses be applied to our lives right now... i.e., the ones that seem like they must be about heaven/hell, etc.
The bible is the literal word of God. When it speaks of heaven and hell, they are literal places.
The good news is sinners can go to heaven. You do not have to stop sinning to go to heaven, or even be willing to stop sinning.
Eternal life is a free gift you receive by trusting in Jesus Christ to save you. You do not have to be a good person, or do any good deeds or works. It is completely free paid for by Christ's death.
"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." - Romans 3:28 KJV
"You do not have to stop sinning to go to heaven, or even be willing to stop sinning"... this I believe is where a lot of Christians err, and become accepting of things like fornication, adultery, drunkenness, sodomy, etc.
You SHOULD stop sinning, but if you believe you MUST stop sinning to receive eternal life, then you do not understand grace or the gospel.
Many false teachers preach that you must stop sinning to receive eternal life. The problem: no one has ever stopped sinning. This changes the free gift of God into something which must be earned.
I am not going to heaven because I promised God I would "stop sinning". I am going to heaven because Christ died for my sins and I accepted his free gift of eternal life!
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
I'm not saying you can stop sinning... although you can do some damage control and sober up in certain areas, to say the least. But my issue is people have become accepting of those things. Take for example gay marriage, ask a Christian for their stance on this and you will understand what I mean.
The Bible is what was given to us to make sense of this world the old world and the one coming. God has a plan for all of us.. Everyone being here right now in this battle is proof.. well its at least proof he works in mysterious ways ;)
When the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem and took the Jews captive, there was a family that escaped captivity; that family was Lehi and his wife Sariah, and his four sons, being called, (beginning at the eldest) Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi. This happened about 600 B.C. The family eventually sailed to America in a special boat that God instructed them on how to build. It's a real good story that was left out of the Bible.
Everything can be considered propaganda. The Bible can be considered propaganda and Jesus Himself can be considered propaganda. There's no factual proof that any of this existed. You either choose to believe or not to believe.
The story about Lehi and his family leaving Jerusalem is Book of Mormon origin yes. My point is that in no way shape or form does the Book of Mormon conflict with the writings of the Bible in any way; nor is it a replacement for the Bible. There are many references to the Bible in the Book of Mormon. The common misconception that the Book of Mormon is a replacement for the Bible is totally wrong.
I have always been skeptical of Mormonism, and I think you should exercise the same caution. But I have a question, and it is not a trick question, I just want to know -- can you have more than one wife as a Mormon?
Right now and has been for quite awhile, you are "sealed together" with one wife at the temple in Utah. Polygamy hasn't been in practice for a long time.
I think it should generally be accepted, but US law obviously played some role. I asked because if you search online you generally don't get a straight answer.

There are a lot of missing gospels from the Bible. It’s definitely not complete. It’s a great start though.

Sounds like some Mormon propaganda.

Is it not Mormon in origin? I'm just telling you what it sounds like to me

No idea why you're getting down voted. The bible has many translation issues and contradictions.
The Bible is against miscegenation.
