Is that a direct translation or interpreted? And if that does happen, well... That's God's decision to make in the end whether or not He chooses to follow through. If Jefferson's actions brought others who would otherwise not believe to even consider God, I'd call that a good thing.
Also consider the Jefferson bible didn't form into anything. So he was most likely wrong in that aspect as he was wrong on other things.
https://biblehub.com/revelation/22-19.htm You can see all the different translations of that text here if you so wish.
Well I feel sorry for the guys who took out Enoch... and the versions that dropped words for the sake of ease... lol.
Anyway, I should be clear, I don't agree with Jefferson writing his own bible except that if it saved people then it was good. I can empathize with Jefferson's perspective, but that doesn't mean I agree.
I would simply counter this verse that it is not God speaking, but an inspired word. This isn't in the Big Ten or the Torah. This is John adding a threat at the end. The kind of threat a corporation would exploit to prevent people from giving other perspectives. Unless the Bible is completely infallible (which it is not) a lot of it is based on interpretation of someone else's inspiration. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I don't believe the book was meant to be the end all be all... just the key to open the door to the cast spiritual world...
You don't believe the Bible to be The Word of God? What parts of His Word would you in your wisdom do away with then?
