Someone a while ago, on a diff site, said something to the effect of "4chan / 8kun is routed through DOD servers" or something like that.

He wouldn't respond when I asked for more info; is there ANY legitimacy to that assertion at all?

I couldn't find any evidence for that. There is reporting that the 8kun site is hosted in Russia.
