I have no idea what any of this means, but it's provocative.
Yeah.
Like when the Thai place asks you “How spicy? 0 to 5 star? How spicy you want it?”
And you say “Maybe, like, one and a half stars.”
It’s still gonna have some spice.
I've been there, but due to my buddy and I trying to out-do each other. We would watch the cooks in the back laughing as they add more and more peppers to the dish.
Thank goodness there was no TP shortage when we were doing that......
Sometimes I wonder about if certain groups just lack taste buds and that's why they insist on so much spice. That and are they just used to having to deal with substandard meat, the better the protein the less spice you want on it.
I love spicy food, and usually go with 3 (unless I’m sharing it with my wife, and then 0 stars), but will sometimes go with 4, but on few experiences with 5, it’s not merely 1 notch hotter than 4, but is more of an invitation to the chef to *make it hurt.
It’s like 1 star = a little spicy, 2 stars, 3, stars, 4 stars, each a little more spicy than the prior... and then 5 stars = ALL THE SPICY, turn the spice jar upside down and the chef smacks the bottom until his hand hurts.
In summary, I love spicy food, and want Thai right now.
