spez. This may be fake news. It seems like the interval between shots doesn't really matter and it's the total number of shots that matters. Also the total number of artillery guns doesn't matter either as long as 21 total shots are made. Presidents get 21 shots while others will get lesser number. For example, VPs or foreign dignitaries get 19 shots.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiNAly9CKSs - Biden, seems like 3 guns and 10 second intervals is correct.

All I want to know and am hoping someone can confirm this is WHEN the 21 gun salute is given? I watched the inauguration at the Capitol. I thought the salute was always given during the ceremony. Can someone military or who would be in the know confirm this.
The fact they fired off the gun in Arlington Cemetery just made me wonder if this was normal or not to do this after the ceremony but not during,
"Immediately after the presidential oath, the United States Marine Band will perform four "ruffles and flourishes", followed by "Hail to the Chief", while simultaneously, a 21-gun salute is fired using artillery pieces from the Presidential Guns Salute Battery, 3rd United States Infantry Regiment "The Old Guard" located in Taft Park, north of the Capitol. The actual gun salute begins with the first "ruffle and flourish", and "run long" (i.e. the salute concludes after "Hail to the Chief" has ended)."
Per wikipedia...
Recall the awkward pause after he was sworn in (2:52:10 onwards https://youtu.be/39vj3oALMDM)... I didn't hear a 21 gun salute... 21 rounds at 3 second intervals should have taken at least 147 seconds (2 min 27 sec), which would be until 2:54:37. There is complete silence from 2:53:07-2:54:3# (until klobuchar speaks) where no 21 gun salute occured during the ceremony when it was expected...
The military stiffed them hard & the military doesn't make ceremonial blunders like that by accident...
ThanQ.. I knew the entire ceremony was odd. And you are right, they didn't sing the Hail to the Chief either.
O rly ? that's odd
The band DID play it. Go wat for yourself.
