anyone paying attention to the live feeds of the white house? what the heck is that structure on the white house lawn??? Seriously, i've never noticed that before this year.

What inauguration stands? The inauguration was at The Capitol, not the White House.
Go watch Trumps inauguration ceremonies. In the evening, there is a second parade infront of the white house. The Trump children along with escorts, the Pences, et cetera all walk from White House into those erected stands. Finally, Trump and Melania walk last with military lining the walk way until they get into that stand, sit and watch the parade. Trump sits next to Barron and there's a well known pic of Barron waving from that stand.

I don't think so either. I think bill Clinton had a similar structure. I don't know what either is/was for though.
Got it! It was built for post inauguration festivities and viewing a parade. Not knowing was driving me nuts. My accomplishment for the day.
