I don't know if you're spiritual, but since you've asked I'll provide how I look at it. This is just my belief and I am not stating anyone else's beliefs are wrong; I believe we all have the right to make our own reality.
I'd spoiler my answer below if I knew how to, because it may be a spiritual-redpill for some and the mix between Eastern and Western perspectives can get messy especially going from Western to Eastern. This stuff can really do a number on someone's mental state.
I see everyone as the divine embodiment of the universe, cosmos, god, nature, or what have you experiencing ourselves. In order for us to not get bored and to make things interesting, we forget who or what we really are. We're essentially playing an extraordinary game of fooling ourselves with our own creations. In Hinduism this is known as Maya(the illusion) and Lila(divine play). I'm sure there are other names for it, but those are the two terms I'm familiar with. The egoic identity of our mind is what is freaking out about the situation. The ego of the flesh is what drives our desire to stay alive in the current form we're expressing ourselves as. In addition, the duality of existence and all means as much as "evil" has been prevailing, it implies "good" will eventually come about. Neither can win the game forever. There will always be ignorance in the world, so it's beneficial to accept it as is and try practicing not being over-reactive to the outside forces that are out of your control. I'm not saying not to do anything, but trying to control what other's think is a never ending struggle.
For people so caught up in this egoic identity, Jesus said "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing."
I recommend practicing and understanding the Wim Hof breathing method to help relax. I've been for the most part doing it daily for the last 7 months and it's some crazy shit!
