Even basic things, such as "how to create an effective fighting force that can adapt to changing circumstances on the battlefield" completely escaped their imagination. Soldiers able to think for themselves, and modify their orders according to circumstances?

The Soviets were really good at creating tanks, tanks that we revolutionary for the 50s. They Soviets were not even able to play on the same field as the Americans when it came to technology.
