As an engineer, this stuff always kills me (right on OP); in the name of "science" wrt ecological-health, we push counter productive technologies.
Nuclear should be our #1 push until we have a better source. Solar is garbage, wind is worse, battery technology just isn't what it needs to be. I suspect better battery tech does exist, it's just getting little to no funding.
Yeah batteries are being pushed hard. Wait for 10 years when you have to refurbish them or rebuild it. Current steam and gas turbine generators going on strong for over 50 years in service.
Don't forget about charging and if you have a couple of prolonged outages stopping you from charging then you're SOL
Yeah natural gas is good and if you have to use traditional fossil fuels diesel gets you the most bang for your buck in terms of energy efficiency. What the snooty electric vehicle people don't realize is most of the time, in this country at least, all or a great chunk of their electricity is generated using fossil fuels. Lots of your energy yield gets lost converting it to electricity and then into a battery which is then used by the car. You would create less net emissions just using the fossil fuels as your primary fuel source.

I suspect the battery [or some such creature] tech is suppressed Tesla invention[s].
My sister works for Tesla, was paid in stock instead of getting bonuses. Before Tesla went public. I’m proud of her accomplishments
It was around 890 this morning.

Not an engineer, but a chemist, and I 100% agree nuclear is the way forward.

finally someone says it
