  1. To remove his secret service protection
  2. To demoralize his base
  3. To attempt to make it look like his first term was illegitimate, no presidential library, can say look he got ImPeAcHeD everything he did doesn't matter
  4. To make it so he can't run for office again and put a stain on anyone in his family and associated with him running for office

They know they will lose the Presidency to Trump and they are desperate to stop it.
