The joint chiefs is purely advisory. They command nothing, and are in fact prevented by law from any form of operational command over military forces. They are symbolic pencil pushers in terms of power.
The real power is in the commanders of the armed forces. They have operational command over their respective branches of the military and/or theaters of operations.
Nope, not really. Why would anyone pay attention to a group of advisors that have no power to do anything or take any actions? Literally, all they do is talk. That is their job. Like a think tank or something similar...
