I'm trying to wrap my head around the shrodinger's president theory. Trump is president for the purpose of impeachment but not for the purpose of the trial?

I can wrap my head around a bogus impeachment but this... I can't even understand what this is supposed to be.

They are holding a trial in the senate based on no evidence against an entity that no longer exists to seek a punishment that can no longer be applied all completely outside the bounds of the constitution.
