Will the military actually defend the Constitution or have they been thoroughly brainwashed too into believing the core of our civilization is somehow unjust? Recently retired and still work around a bunch of retirees, honestly I am pretty disappointed. Top levels can get pretty political and I don't personally have alot of faith in Senior Leadership, many, like our politicians are just out for themselves at the end of the day. Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear. I don't doubt there are some true patriots but everything is compartmentalized and generally you are kind of isolated to your specific units mission and objectives and that's coming from somewhere up top. Personally I am horrified right now and am just waiting to be purged (lose my job and maybe even jailed) for my past politics as I have been active.
When it comes down to it, military members are going to follow orders unless it is CLEARLY illegal, or directly against a regulation. The constitution has nothing to do with the actions of the bottom 99% of the military. Only the orders and direction that comes down. It depends on the upper echelon of command. COMMAND control, vs ADMINISTRATIVE control. If these leaders are fully aware of the situation and intel, then yes, the constitution prevails, and it doesn't matter if they are Trump or Biden supporters. If they are compromised or in any way hesitant, forget all of this. Period.
Marine vet. I remember being in leadership conversations around election time every year where we were advised to stay out of political discussions while encouraging our platoon members to vote and be engaged. Emphasis was on staying out of political posturing. My unit was very serious about remaining publicly neutral, while ensuring that lawful orders would be carried out.

I retired 26 years ago, the Military seems different from the old days. Constitution and esprit de core mattered when I was serving. Seems like a lot of the Military only care about themselves and maybe they don't have the common good of the people in mind. When you start allowing transgender and wimps in, the Military is going to go to hell in a hand basket.
former soldier here: All I can say is that we all took an oath to defend the Constitution. So did our so-called representatives.

Military-mostly (grunts, ower enlisted take orders BUT remember the Public School system lacks in Civics or History so critical thinking is lacking. Basic training is the Country’s #1 Phsy Op campaign (years past) that teachings DONT THINK BUT take orders)
Civilians- older generations believe in the Constitution but the younger generation is yet to be seen. Take away MORE of their rights and they will QUICKLY catch up on what the Constitution represents.
Marine vet. I can only speak for the 20 or so years I was either enlisted or living amongst military, but defending the Constitution would have been paramount. No matter your color, gender, religion... I cannot speak for today's military, though. I've just not been in their environment for quite a while. I would, however, be hard pressed to believe that the marine corps would have strayed from their timeless values & mission to allow any other mindset.
I think President Trump has, and will come to rely on the Marine Corps and Special Forces because they are still not brainwashed.
