No - the patriots were horrifically betrayed by their fellow Americans in 1776, especially in New Jersey. Very nearly cost us the entire war. Washington was counting on the people of New Jersey to support and supply the army. Instead, they ALL cowered and turned their backs on our army. We slumped into Valley Forge completely demoralized and rejected by our own people.
