I've had the rumblings of a project for a while bouncing around my noggin. I would like to present people with examples of how the media lies to you. How they take clips of video completely out of context and spinning things as something they are not. Examples of blatantly false stories, etc... I want to compile these videos/stories into a nicely organized website that anyone can just shoot a link to their buddy and say, "THIS....is why you can't trust the media any more"
When I was younger. It only took a few of these events to make me begin questioning what I was seeing. As silly as it will seem, it was actually some shoddy "reporting" on a tropical storm that got me questioning things; a reporter standing waist deep in a ditch full of water pretending as if he was in the middle of an intersection and that the streets in this town had been flooded. Another simple example was a politician quoting his opponent... "My opponent says 'We have to raise taxes on the middle class'".... but the media took the clip of his speech, shortening it to "We have to raise taxes on the middle class" and passing it off as if HE originally said it.
Anyways, You get the picture. If you have an examples please pass them along.
The ‘very fine people’ hoax from Charlottesville. People still believe that one.
Gulf war Iraq - fake incoming missile attack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpkJ_OzOFmY
BBC building 7 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M26-B44qQIs (why did it fall into it's own footprint with just a few fires, the only time in the history of high rise buildings, also see recent study).
Fake weather - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyrRCx8-fZk
Fake "White helmets" Syria - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HCFol7g-FU (and interestingly a whole load of files leaked not long ago describing the companies involved, Governments and actors)
And a lot more, just thought I'd get you started?
Just go turn on the tv and hit record
Lies by omission. Nearly ZERO coverage of hurricane Erin parked off the coast of NY on the day of the event in 2001. Hurricane Geraldo Rivera even commented how nice it would have been if there would have been a hurricane that day because it would have restricted air traffic in the city.
Yep, exactly. You get it! I want to start off with some small things....take people on a journey, map it all out to the point that there's no denying they've been lied to for years.... and get them thinking about what else they've been lied to about.
I really love this idea. I have been wanting something like this for a long time now, but don't have the editing skills. Some first examples that come to mind are:
The capitol riot being "worse than 9/11" (John Liu) and AOC repeatedly saying she was nearly killed vs her and others never condemning riots that left dozens dead and cost cities billions of dollars.
MSM ripping "find more votes" out of context in the GA call.
Impeaching Trump for crimes they are proven guilty of -- Quid Pro Joe. CNN and others blatantly ignoring facts in favor a their lies and demonization of a sitting president.
The "Muslim Ban" -- Trump literally just used a list from the Obama admin of places riddled with Islamic terrorists.
The constant barrage of racist claims with no evidence except the "rapist and drug dealer line" out of context.
One of my favorites because of the absurdity -- The Lego White House that Ivanka's kid built. Some sources called Ivanka a liar and claimed the kid never constructed one, lol.
Voter Fraud, in both 2016 and 2020.
just turn on the TV.
You can find a ton of that just by watching President Trump's press briefings vs what the news reported. But Trump is probably not the best example since those full of hate gear it toward him.
These are my thoughts as well. I think at first, I want to focus on non Trump related material b/c the last thing I want is someone to come to the site with a biased mindset. I really want to leave them thinking....."Fuck...if they're lying to me about THIS stuff...."
Maybe start with just the covid back and forth..... they were hypocritical with it enough. There has to be great material there. Although they could argue that is was a 'new' virus and that's where the misinformation comes from. Definitely an issue worth pursuing, but the topic has to be right, I agree.
