I worked at a blood bank for 15 years, we took blood in it's whole form, or by apheresis, I drove a blood mobile for years, some times people would have such a high platlet count it would clot in the bag, in the needle bore, you name it. Stuff is sticky like glue, and dries hard like bricks, so I can see how it would make a great , cheap binding agent for sand, especially if it were blood from animals being slaughtered for food. It sounds morbid, but it's actually a pretty good idea.
