Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained amid reports a military coup is underway in the country.
The National League for Democracy, Myanmar's governing party, said that Suu Kyi and other senior figures from the ruling party have been detained in an early morning raid.
The move comes after days of escalating tension between the civilian government and the powerful military that stirred fears of a coup in the aftermath of an election the army says was fraudulent.
Spokesman Myo Nyunt told Reuters by phone that Suu Kyi, President Win Myint and other leaders had been 'taken' in the early hours of the morning.
'I want to tell our people not to respond rashly and I want them to act according to the law,' he said, adding he also expected to be detained.

If I remember correctly it was Suu Kyi that the people wanted specifically. They loved her.
Can’t remember much from my research a few years back, but something went wrong with her, I think...
I don’t know anything about her or the country but keep in mind if she’s part of the globalist coup, the media is going to portray her as if all the people love her. Just like the media here portrays Biden as everyone loving him.
Apparently Pompeo had concerns about their previous election, so my assumption is that this is a positive.
Suu Kyi was a globalist puppet.
But she turned her back on them once she became leader. So they declared her an enemy.
This coup is likely globalist-backed. They’ve infiltrated and subverted our own military here in the US, if they can do that here, infiltrating Myanmar’s military must have been a piece of cake. The CIA and our SpecOps forces were probably instrumental in this coup.
