I'm not talking about forced conversion, but the moral laws. In the past birth control, abortion, fornication, sodomy were all illegal and it was on the books. Think Roe v. Wade, Griswold v. Connecticut etc. The legal code was the fruit of a nation rooted in the West and Christendom.
Sure, until you realize there are a billion different people that view it all differently.
The issue is this type of thinking.
The only way it could work would be literal interpretations, which then break down quickly.
