Watching a story on Newsmax about a teenager named Trevor Till who committed suicide because of the covid lockdowns and utter lack of socialization.
This kid appeared to have everything going for him and yet he took his own life. His mother ran down the list of activities that Trevor did and the only thing that comes to mind is that this poor kid was so seriously over-scheduled that he never learned to be alone with his own thoughts.
Maybe rather than schedule our kids from sunrise to sunset, we focus more on teaching them to be alone with their thoughts. I see this in so many people who do not have this ability.
Yes we need each other but there are times that we need to learn to comfort ourselves or find our comfort in a higher power and yet where does one learn this ability?
I learned it as a kid because we did not have TV to watch, video games or computers. When you got bored you figured out something to do. If we couldn't figure it out our Mom would find something for us to do!!
I agree. I did have video games. Wasted too much of my life with them and TV. We carefully regulate our kids. Already dumped Netflix. Planning to dump Prime and Debating on Disney (symbolism, subconscious programming, etc).
Boy did you just bring back some great childhood memories. You never said "I'm bored" or "There's nothing to do" in our home or you'd get handed a Reader's Digest and told to do the "It Pays to Enhance Your Word Power"! Needless to say, we all grew up to be fairly eloquent adults when necessary.
I also think going to Church every Sunday helped too. You had to learn to sit still, shut up and be bored for an hour, every week! In fact maybe my kids need some Church! My mom's techniques aren't working for me real well!!!
A friend's teenage son killed himself a couple weeks ago. A friend's friend (vet) killed himself last year, was buried in Arlington Cemetery this weekend. We are losing a LOT of people to suicide. This insanity has to stop NOW.
If any private individual bought a lawsuit for manslaughter against mayors or governors, it would be a victory if it ever made it to court. How many hours of video speeches have there been of people saying shit like 'I am responsible which is why I made the difficult decision to lock down businesses' etc. Their guilt is already determined with public statements like this, many such cases.
Trevor Till's mother is doing just that. It should prove to be rather interesting. Such a sad situation courtesy of a bunch of crooked politicians.
You are locked in the house, just your own family for open company (no mask or distancing).
If you are the type of person who cannot communicate with a face diaper on...someone who enjoys physical activity and sports, the company of acquaintances and friends, looking forward to social plans.....I don't know how there arent more suicides. This is SPIRIT crushing.....the loneliness and isolation are incredible for most normal people.
they can test the old people in nursing homes all they want with the covid covid crap.....they are dying from lack of loving contact and loneliness.
you can have a million hobbies.....human companionship cannot be replaced.
Agree they want to shut down the only mid quality clothing store in town says we can shop for clothes online. A. how am I supposed to know how it will fit? B. humans were not meant to live like this I want to go out and flipping try on shirts, I want to bring my friends or my family and ask them how I look, wtf is so hard to understand.
Most people have no idea how to be individuals, they can only function in a collective.
Individualism has been attacked for decades now, people fail to see that being an individual does not equal being an egotist, you MUST be a definitive individual to learn self-control and personal responsibility.
As for me, I feel like you could send me to a little shack in the middle of the woods in Alaska by myself for 1 year, and after said 1 year had passed and someone came up to the shack I'd be all like "hey, what's up" as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.
I'm not sure it is about being over scheduled. Some of these kids are complete nerds and stuff like band practice or orchestra are the only social interaction that they have .
Im surprised that the suicide numbers arent higher
Learned it as a kid on my own
A mask is virtually worthless. I have a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences and am a Certified Industrial Hygienist. An OSHA inspector would’ve cited you if all you had was a fabric mask - considered the same as nothing.
