Im not gonna compromise my buddy in the FFL, I dont know enough to compromise OPSEC. Take this for what you will. A few days ago when they closed the borders, he told me the cancelled all training and told them to prep 72 hour bags. This morning he messaged me and said they are on Alerte de Departe. I asked for further clarification but haven't heard back. He said no one knows what they're departing to do and everyone has bad vibes.
Edit: Got a little more info. They're still on hold. No actual departure yet. It's like staging the 82nd to wait for the 18 hour call.
Probably, one of the best military units on Earth.
But, the French President (Emmanuel Macron) is one of the most disgusting servant of the Deep State...
They don't really have an equivalent to US, Russian, or UK troops except possibly the FFL airborne units. Because of their specialized training they do mirror other country airborne troops. The FFL is tough and endure rigorous training but the troops come from all over the world. The language barrier hinders detailed & technical training so that does not happen evenly across all troops. Men that speak French well get a promoted to higher rank but those who never master it stay at low level but are still part of the FFL. This ultimately holds overall efficiency and proficiency of the FFL back.
This is a superb book and a quick read. Although dated to the era right before France left Algeria you can verify that much of how they did things then are still done now. But, it does give great detail on the endurance, drive, and loyalty to each other that the FFL has -

Yea I bet the chicoms don't want to tangle with the Ghurkas.
The book linked above goes into that in detail. Algeria was a meat grinder for Algerians.
